Direct-Flow Filtration for Microfiltration and Aseptic Filtration Purposes (Spectrum)

The Spectrum hollow fiber microfiltration membrane is a superior product actively used in applications such as unheated sterilization, clarifying filtration, and terminal filtration. The module incorporates intricately looped hollow fibers (DynaFibre®) made of mixed cellulose ester (ME) with 0.2-μm inner diameter. With a large surface area on a compact unit, this structure contributes to higher permeation rates and less clogging. The ME membrane is also known for its property of low protein adsorption (< 2 μg/cm2). Such high levels of efficiency are made possible only by the hollow fiber filter. Its mechanism allows fluid outside the porous hollow fiber to penetrate the outer surface into the lumen; then, such fluid streams converge and flow out from a common outlet port into a flow path. Furthermore, hydrophobic bent fibers incorporated in the microfiltration membrane (for models other than DynaGard) allow air bubbles to escape. Therefore, the structure is less likely to undergo the air lock phenomenon (in which bubbles impede the normal flow of fluid).

Tangential Flow Filtration for Microfiltration and Ultrafiltration Purposes
The disposable MicroKros hollow fiber filter module is designed for a gentle tangential flow filtration for a small sample volume from 1 to 100 mL. This module represents an efficient and practical means of tangential flow filtration for fluid volumes typically used in research and development environments. Although the MicroKros filter is normally used while connected to a peristaltic pump, it can also be manually operated when the sample volume is small. When condensing a fluid, two syringes are connected to the inlet and outlet ports on the impenetrable constituent side so that the sample fluid freely travels hollow fiber lumens. A third syringe is connected to one of the side ports to collect filtrate. By connecting a fourth syringe using the supplied check valve (blue), you can add a sample fluid for condensation or attach a buffer for diafiltration.

Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) (Spectrum)

For the condensation, purification and impurity removal with biological materials and other particle solutions, common methods used are filtration and centrifugal separation. With centrifugal separation, a sequence of rotation, supernatant removal, and pellet redistribution takes several hours. It is, therefore, not uncommon for users of this method to experience the deterioration of target analytes, reduced yields, and failure to achieve high purity. The most common method of filtration employed in laboratories is direct flow filtration, but this method too is time-consuming due to clogging. In contrast, tangential flow filtration completes separation in a significantly shorter time. By using a hollow fiber TFF filter module, you can complete condensation and purification within an hour, with high levels of purity and yield.

Gyro Washer

This new tabletop washer system employs a horizontal dehydration mode (centrifugal dehydration) to respond to washing operation for low-volume microplates, such as the 384-well and 1,536-well, especially to cope with difficulty in fluid suction and discharge involved in its operation.
Apart from the washing function, it is also possible to defoam the sample in the plate.
The system comes with a stacker that can be set with 40 microplates; the user can choose from two types of wash solutions and switch between various washer modes. For the centrifugal dehydration of microplates, a horizontal rotation mode (patent pending) can be used, with dehydration rotational frequency set optionally. Thus, the system eliminates the conventional problems of residual fluid and sample dehydration.
